Lately, we’ve seen them not only during fashion week and all over Instagram on street style bloggers. They come in different styles, cuts, and colors, and can be styled in multiple ways depending on your mood, fashion style, occasion in the colder months. Also known as down jackets, puffer jackets are made with geese or duck feathers. That’s what makes them so incredibly warm and insulating throughout the winter season. That, in addition to durable synthetic fibers for added synthetic insulation. Other than these main materials, puffer jackets are very versatile when it comes to fabrics, colors, thicknesses, geometric shapes, zippers, hoods, and so on. In today’s modern world of fashion there are plenty of puffer jackets made for women specifically, with extra details that accentuate and support the female body.
Are Puffer Jackets In Style
Puffer jackets are always in style, especially ones made with high-quality water repellent or resistant materials. If you live in a colder climate – think New York, Chicago, Denver, Seattle – a stylish puffer jacket is pretty much a cold weather staple in your daily winter wardrobe. P.S: Look for one with a faux fur lined hood for extra warmth. I’ve seen a lot of celebrities breaking out the trusted puffer coats this season. I’m in love with the puffer jacket street style Emily Ratajkowski, Hailey Bieber (in North Face), and Jennifer Lopez have all been wearing this season. So much inspo for winter coats this season.
This puffer jacket is a longer length and such a great option for colder days. I styled it with my favorite classic leggings from luluemon and Target hoodie. I finished off the look with a cream knit beanie and my Sam Edelman black combat boot under $150.
This cropped metallic puffer is by Mackage and has been a favorite for the past few years. I love the tweed inset paired with a black legging. It’s such a great jacket and can be dressed up or a great jacket to wear for hitting the slopes. I wanted to add some dimension to the look so I added my favorite black and white striped turtleneck.
Styling this long puffer again, but wanted to change up the look a bit. I changed out my leggings for some faux leather leggings by Commando and styled with these Splendid winter boots and Target sweater.
If you think a puffer jacket needs to be only casual or worn on a ski trip, those days are long gone. A puffer is an essential winter staple that can be worn so many ways. Below, I’m sharing a few tips on what to wear with your puffer jacket.
Striped Sweater + Leggings + Combat Boots
Athleisure or Activewear and Sneakers
For a casual look, adding your puffer jacket over you sweatsuit is a great option for running errands while staying warm and comfortable. It’s also the perfect travel outfit when worn with sneakers.
Faux Leather Pants Leggings, Combat Boots and a Beanie
A faux leather pant or legging paired with a combat boot is a great option to for a styled winter look under your puffer coat. You can add a ball cap or beanie to be a bit more casual.
You cannot go wrong with a classic trouser even under a puffer jacket. Especially a knee length puffer. It not only makes the look a bit more casual for street style but paired with sneakers and a hooded sweatshirt is another great option for styling your puffer jacket.
Monochrome Neutral Colors
A monochrome all-black, white or camel winter outfit will elevate your look no matter if it’s casual or dressy. In the winter adding the same toned scarves, gloves and hats will blend the outfit together. You can even add a pop of color to your accessories if you need a pop to your neutral colors.
High Waisted Jeans, A Classic Tee & Chunky Boots
Styling a puffer jacket over your classic high waisted jeans, a tee and a chunky boots is a great look. And most likely, one you already have in your closet. It’s classic and elevated and perfect styled outfit idea from your winter capsule wardrobe.

While we are still in the colder months of February, I’m always looking ahead and wondering how I can transition some of my winter pieces into spring. This light belted puffer style is a perfect transition piece when it’s cold but you want lighter and brighter color story. This Chloe bag is a new release for spring and under $1,000. It a great option for work or vacation travel. I’m also loving these white Nike sneakers with a pink accent, they are the perfect spring shoe and would be great with spring dresses too.

This cropped A.L.C puffer jacket is another great coat for transitioning into spring months. Wear it casually with sneakers and piped leggings or dressed up for work with a pair of cream trousers, a button up blouse and a heel.
