How to Build a Summer Capsule Wardrobe

Summer 2022 is here and if you are just getting starting in curating a capsule wardrobe, I wanted to share some tips for you to have for future reference.

1. The most important part of creating a capsule wardrobe is building a base of high quality basic to create an effortless summer style .

I focus on quality classic pieces that I will wear for years to come. For summer, focus on high quality tank tops, linen pants, linen shirts and anything else that says summer style.

2. Choose a color palette for your summer wardrobes.

I always stick to more neutral colors, but if you love color add in more subdued blues or pinks that are still classic. A black tank is like a LBD…it never goes out of style.

3. Every wardrobe deserves some pops of color.

Just do not go overboard and choose those wisely, because most of these pieces will be more trendy and will go out of style more quickly. For pieces like this, I grab them at H&M, Mango, Zara as well as my favorite under $100 brands from Shopbop and Nordstrom.

4. Plan Your Outfits

Planning is everything in life and that includes your wardrobe. When you feel more organized everything falls into place.

When it comes to swimwear, a belted one pieced is a must for me. I always do cream and black. This year I opted for a muted floral bikini for a pop and it was the perfect addition to my summer capsule wardrobe. For coverup, I wear my jean shorts or skirts or even layer on of my dresses. If you want a coverup, my favorite sarong from Amazon is this for $18 and my favorite coverup is this one!

Shoes can be my weakness for a capsule wardrobe. Everyone has a weakness right? Again, like the dresses I opt for a neutral assortment (any color) in these summer capsule wardrobe pieces.

Bodysuits // I can’t get enough of the bodysuits for summer and the Skims bodysuit have the most amazing color palette for ever skin type. The # of outfit ideas with this bodysuit are endless and can be mix and matched various ways. It would be beautiful with a silk skirt as well!

Eyelet Top // A feminine top is always in every capsule wardrobe I create and this square neck puff sleeve will take you into fall and well as for spring. It’s the perfect short sleeve feminine pieces in your capsule wardrobe. If you want something more classic, opt for a short sleeve button down shirt as it is timeless as well.

Lightweight Sweater // If you are like me and always cold while traveling or insides, a long sleeve lightweight sweater is a must and the perfect piece for you summer capsule and mixed and matched throughout the entire year!

Blazers // A blazer is a must have piece throughout the entire year. If you check my instagram, you can see that I styled it with biker shorts the other day. For workwear it’s the perfect long sleeve summer layer for your business meetings or styled with jeans for a casual friday. My favorite Amazon Blazer is this one and comes in black, white and tan.

Denim Jacket // Perfect for travel or layering over your shoulder for your summer outfit on a chilly night. I always have to have long sleeves on the plane!

Dresses are definitely my all time favorite in my summer capsule wardrobe. From a mini dress to a maxi dress these are a must haves in your capsule wardrobe and can be worn dressy or casual with white sneakers. Which ever color you choose, these are my picks your need in your closet.

The tote to carry all my beach or pool accessories as well as a little woven # for date night. But no matter what season I always have my YSL wallet so it makes transferring things over quickly.

Shoe & Accessory

I typically keep my accessories simple during the summer especially when I comes to jewelry. Minimal is key. However, the one thing I can’t go without is my summer hats.
