With three kids and a full schedule of sports, practices, grocery shopping, and everything in between, I’ve learned that a Sunday reset routine isn’t optional. Rather, it’s what keeps my week from feeling chaotic before it even starts. Sundays are usually the only moment I have to pause, look ahead, and get things back in order before Monday morning hits.
For me, a Sunday reset is not about doing everything perfectly. It’s about creating a rhythm that supports real life, busy mornings, last-minute schedule changes, and the constant movement that comes with having a full household. When I take the time to reset, take care of my mental health, I feel more grounded, my home feels calmer, and the entire week flows better.
Today, I’m sharing my Sunday reset routine, the one I come back to every week to stay organized, feel more in control, and start the week with intention.

Sunday Reset Routine
A Sunday reset routine is what helps me transition out of weekend mode and into a more focused mindset for the week ahead. Without it, things pile up quickly. For example, laundry, clutter, missed details. And Monday morning feels rushed before the day even begins.
With three kids in sports, our weeks move fast. Practices, games, school schedules, it all adds up. Taking time on Sunday to reset my environment and priorities makes a noticeable difference in how our week feels. It gives me a moment to get ahead instead of constantly catching up.
It doesn’t have to take hours. Even a focused reset routine can completely shift your week feeling more organized, calm, and manageable.
What Is A Sunday Reset
A Sunday reset is a set of intentional habits you complete at the end of the week to prepare for the next one. For me, it’s a mix of deep cleaning, planning, organizing, and a little bit of self-care.
It’s essentially a reset for everything, your home, your schedule, and your mindset. Instead of carrying over the stress or mess from the previous week, you’re creating a fresh start.
The best part is that it can look different for everyone. My routine is built around a busy family schedule, but the goal is always the same: to start the week feeling prepared, not overwhelmed.
How To Do A Sunday Reset
Start with a quick reset of your space
I always begin with a quick reset of the house. Not a full deep cleaning, but enough to make everything feel put back together. I focus on the kitchen, living areas, and anything that’s been left out over the weekend.
With kids, things get messy fast, so even a simple reset makes a huge difference. Walking into a clean space on Monday morning instantly lowers stress and helps my mental health going into the week. Be sure to check out my posts here to help with home organization.

Plan your upcoming week
This is one of the most important parts of my reset routine. I sit down and go through our schedule, school events, sports practices, games, appointments, everything.
Having three kids means there’s always something going on, so writing it all out helps me see the week clearly. It also helps me avoid surprises and feel more prepared for Monday morning. I typically use a planner or calendar for this to keep myself organized.

Prep essentials like meals or outfits
This step saves me the most time during the week. I’ll do a grocery shopping run, prep a few meals or snacks, and think through outfits for the kids and myself.
Even doing this partially helps mornings run smoother. When you’re not scrambling to figure things out last minute, your whole week feeling more manageable.

Schedule time for self-care
I’ve learned this one the hard way. If I don’t intentionally build in self care time for myself, it doesn’t happen. Even if it’s something small like skincare, a long shower, or just quiet time, it makes a difference.
Taking care of yourself is part of the reset. It helps you start the week feeling more balanced instead of already drained.

Set priorities instead of overwhelming to-do lists
Instead of writing a long list of everything I “should” do, I focus on what actually matters that week. What are the top priorities for our family? What needs to get done?
This keeps me from feeling overwhelmed and helps me stay focused. A clear plan always works better than a long, unrealistic list.

Sunday Reset Checklist
Having a consistent sunday reset checklist makes everything easier. I don’t have to think about what to do, I just follow the routine.
You can turn this into a PDF for yourself or save it to reuse each week.

Sunday Reset Checklist:

A Sunday reset routine has honestly become one of the most important parts of my week. It doesn’t mean everything will go perfectly, but it gives me a sense of control before everything starts moving again.
With a full schedule, kids in sports, and constant activity, having this reset routine in place helps me stay organized, feel more prepared, and protect my mental health throughout the week.
If you’re trying to build more structure into your days beyond Sundays, I share more in my daily wellness routine here.
At the end of the day, your Sunday reset doesn’t need to be perfect. It just needs to work for you. And once you find that rhythm, it can completely change how you start the week.
