Top Designer Sunglasses

Today, I’m going to share my go to sunglasses brands as well as sharing my favorite shapes below that will help you decide when choosing the perfect shape of sunglasses for you face. Also, sharing my tips on what to consider when choosing a pair of sunglasses.
Favorite Sunglasses Brands

TOM FORD
TOM FORD launched his brand in 2005 and was previously at Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent fashion houses. His sunglasses are iconic and classic while making a statement.

CELINE
Celine was one of the first ever created luxury brands. Therefore, their sunglass line always consists of classic statement pieces. They might be a bit of an investment but these frames never go out of style.

KREWE
Krewe got it’s start in 2013 in New Orleans, by selling sunglasses from by the owner Barrett’s bike and a mobile cart at concerts. All of the sunglasses are handcrafted and one of my favorite brands I personally own.
They have a guarantee in their Second Chances program, so if you damage or break your frames, the first replacement is on them. If you purchase a full price frame, they will replace with a brand new pair of sunglasses.

GUCCI
Gucci started out creating only genuine leather pieces in the 1920s. Over time they are branched out into new target markets such as sunglasses. Their sunglass styles range from classic to trendy with a variety of materials frames.

RAYBAN
Ray-Ban really emerged as a major contender in the eye-ware world in the 1930s with their classic “pilot” shape frames. Since then Ray-Ban has kept it’s classic frame shapes along with adding new trendy styles with each season.

PRADA
Prada began as a leather goods company and has since then evolved into this powerful brand name and image. I look to Prada eye-ware for daring yet sophisticated styles that will make a statement with every outfit.

SAINT LAURENT
Saint Laurent carries every style of sunglasses you could dream of. They come out with a series of classic style shapes along with trendy shapes each season.

Round/Circular

Dior or Quay are great hot spots for round sunglasses. I love round sunglasses because of all the hippie and Elton John vibes I get. They are always such a fun statement accessory and always look so cute when pulled off correctly. Individuals with square face shapes always look great in round sunglasses due to the contrasting shapes. The roundness of the sunglasses soften the facial angles in a square shaped face.
Clubmaster Sunglasses

A clubmaster is the most classic style of sunglasses in my opinion. Ray-Ban is by far the first brand I think of when looking for clubmaster sunglasses. Ray-Ban actually reinvented the name of these glasses, originally they were called brow-line glasses due to the fact that they are thicker at the brow-line. They are a reasonable price and look great on just about any shape face. They specifically look great on individuals with triangular face shapes.
Wayfarer Sunglasses

Wayfarer sunglass shape are considered to be the standard sunglass shape. The shape is a classic and can be found in almost any designer’s sunglass line. My top favorites for this frame shape are Ray-Ban, Prada, and Gucci. These designers like to stick to a lot of classic frame shapes while adding trendy touches with their materials and colors with each season.
Rectangle

I love looking towards Prada and Celine for any rectangle shaped sunglass frames. Prada does a great job of this with all of their rectangle shaped glasses. While Celine creates retangle shaped sunglasses with a lot of fun new materials each season. Rectangle sunglasses always look great on round faced individuals due to the contrast is shapes.
Gold Tone Sunglasses

There is something about a gold tone sunglasses that takes me back to the 60’s when it comes to the contrast between the dark lenses and metallic frames. Quay always does a great job at incorporating metal tones with their sunglasses while also keeping their sunglasses lightweight.
Classic Aviator

Aviator sunglasses previously known as pilot sunglasses are in my opinion are the most versatile sunglass frame shape. Their thin frame and reflective lenses are great for any sporting event, beach trip, and can fit easily under a hat for any activity. A pair of aviator sunglasses are a nonnegotiable for my sunglass collection. My go to designers are Ray-Ban and Tom Ford.
Brown Lenses

More and more brown tones have been emerging in all areas of fashion lately and I am here for it! I love a good brown lense pair of sunglasses primarily in the summer. I love how the brown lenses go with my all my summer whites or lighter colored outfits. Compared to a black lense the brown is a lot more flattering to lighter colors. Saint Laurent and Tom Ford always come out with great brow lense glasses every season!
Acetate Frames

Acetate frames are lightweight and higher quality over plastic. I find acetate material frames are more durable as well which I always need when tossing them in a beach bag or my purse. My top places to go for these type of frames is Krewe and Saint Laurent. Many designer sunglasses can feel heavy on my face because they are of good quality but these two brands check both boxes of quality and light weight.
Cateye / Retro Shades

A pair of cat eye sunglasses are one of my favorite trends that are quickly becoming a must in my sunglasses assortment. You are seeing them all over streets from Getty images and look elevated as well as chic with a bit of edge.
Square Sunglasses

Gucci and Celine are the holy grail when it comes to square framed sunglasses. I love square framed sunglasses because they always give off a sassy vibe. By putting on a square shaped pair of sunglasses I feel like I can take on anything the day throws at me.
Black Frames

A black frame is as classic as they come. Not only are they a classic sunglasses style, but they are timeless as well. You can go with a cat eye or a classic square frame, but a black frame is one I consider a must in my capsule wardrobes.
